Mindfulness for Beginners - Kowhai Wellness

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the practice of purposefully paying attention to the present moment without judgment. It's about being fully aware of where you are and what you're doing, without being overwhelmed by what's happening around you.

Simple Breathing Exercise

Sit comfortably and focus on your breath. Notice the sensation of breathing in and out. When your mind wanders (and it will), gently bring your attention back to your breath. Start with 5 minutes daily.

Mindful Daily Activities

Practice mindfulness while eating (notice tastes, textures), walking (feel your feet touching the ground), or doing chores (focus on the sensations and movements involved).

Benefits of Regular Practice

Regular mindfulness practice can reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus and concentration, enhance emotional regulation, increase self-awareness, and improve overall wellbeing and life satisfaction.
